As part of an enriching educational experience, a group of molecular biotechnology students visited Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China from September 21 to September 30, 2023. During their visit, they had the privilege of exploring the forefront of scientific research in the renowned laboratory of Professor Wang at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering.
Professor Wang’s laboratory is widely recognized for its groundbreaking work in designing and synthesizing innovative drug delivery materials for applications in antimicrobial and anticancer treatments. This exceptional opportunity allowed the students to gain invaluable hands-on experience in various areas, including 3D cell culture, biomaterial design, and electron microscopy investigations pertaining to the efficacy of drug delivery vehicles.
Beyond the exchange of academic knowledge, this visit also facilitated cultural immersion and provided valuable insights into China’s higher education system. The students had the chance to discover the rich academic environment at Jiao Tong University, ranked among the top 50 universities worldwide.
The visit served as a promising step toward fostering future collaborations and knowledge exchange between GU and Jiao Tong University. The students were able to observe firsthand the cutting-edge research being conducted at the university and establish connections with their peers and professors. Additionally, they explored potential opportunities for postgraduate studies, which could be of interest to the final-year students looking to further their education.
The journey to Jiao Tong University not only broadened the students’ scientific horizons but also deepened their appreciation for the cultural diversity and academic prowess present in China. Through this visit, the students were able to witness the remarkable achievements being made in the field of molecular biotechnology at one of China’s most esteemed educational institutions.
