Galala and Ain Shams Universities Join Forces to Advance Disability Studies

Galala University and Ain Shams University have taken a significant step towards improving the lives of people with disabilities by signing a letter of intent following a cooperation protocol signed early in 2021, to establish a comprehensive database for disability studies researchers. The agreement aims to create a centralized repository of academic research on disabilities, facilitating data-driven policymaking and fostering innovation in the field.
The collaboration, spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain Al-Abidin, President of Ain Shams University, seeks to identify research priorities, track groundbreaking studies, and optimize the utilization of scientific, technical, and human resources in disability research.
By pooling their resources and expertise, the universities intend to empower researchers and policymakers to make informed decisions that directly impact the lives of individuals with disabilities. The database will serve as a valuable tool for identifying research gaps, stimulating further investigation, and ultimately contributing to the realization of Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals for inclusivity and accessibility.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both universities, including Prof. Dr. Ehab Hassanien, Prof. Dr. Nevine Assem, and Prof. Dr. Dina Arabi. Their commitment to this initiative underscores the importance of addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities and promoting a more inclusive society.
This groundbreaking partnership between Galala University and Ain Shams University marks a significant milestone in disability studies in Egypt and sets a commendable example for other institutions to follow.
