Celebrating the International Day of Radiology at GU

The Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences celebrated the International Day of Radiology with an outstanding three-day event held from November 11 to 13, 2024. Held under the theme “International Day of Radiology: Imaging a Better Tomorrow – Series 2: Illuminating the Invisible,” the event brought attention to the latest advancements in radiology and medical imaging. It featured a series of specialized scientific lectures that covered topics such as the applications of PACS, RIS, and artificial intelligence in clinical practices, advanced developments in ultrasound techniques, emerging trends in neuroscience and NeuroImaging, and the evolving role of X-rays in both human and veterinary diagnostics.

The event also saw active participation from leading companies in radiology and medical imaging, including IMED, Alkan Medical, Paxera Health, and Arabs in Neuroscience, who showcased innovative technologies and contributed to enhancing practical learning experiences for participants.

A key highlight of the event was the provision of free medical examinations for students, administrators, and faculty members. These included abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds, thyroid ultrasounds, and Doppler scans of neck arteries, supervised by Dr. Hend Galal El-Din, Program Director, Dr. Nisreen Radwan, and Dr. Hala Maghribi. On the final day, students from the Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology Program performed a range of X-ray examinations, such as chest X-rays and X-rays of the cervical and lumbar vertebrae, shoulders, and knees. These practical sessions, conducted under the supervision of faculty members, allowed students to gain valuable hands-on experience while providing important diagnostic services to the university community.

This event exemplified the integration of education, innovation, and community service, emphasizing the critical role of radiology in improving public health. Participants had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge developments in medical imaging, particularly the use of artificial intelligence and modern diagnostic technologies, making the celebration a true milestone in healthcare education at Galala University.
