Galala University recently marked its second annual celebration of the International Day of Radiology under the theme “Illuminating the Invisible.” Organized by the Radiology and Medical Imaging (RMI) Program at the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology, the event showcased the transformative role of medical imaging in modern healthcare.
The three-day event brought together industry leaders, academic experts, and students to explore the latest advancements in the field. Partners such as GE Healthcare, Alkan Medical, IMed Healthineers, and Paxera Health contributed with cutting-edge insights and demonstrations that highlighted innovations in ultrasound, veterinary imaging, and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
For the first time, the Arabs in Neuroscience organization participated in the event, represented by Dr. Mohamed Abdelhack and Eng. Mai Gamal. Their sessions focused on the latest trends in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), offering attendees a deeper understanding of its current applications and potential for future discoveries.
The event also featured a unique opportunity for community health engagement. Dr. Hend Galal Eldeen, Program Director of RMI, joined radiology professors Prof. Dr. Hala Maghraby and Prof. Dr. Nesreen Radwan in providing complimentary health screenings. These screenings, available to students, faculty, administrative staff, and workers, included ultrasound examinations on the first two days and X-ray examinations on the final day.
This year’s celebration not only emphasized the importance of radiology in advancing healthcare but also fostered collaboration between academia and industry. Galala University remains committed to building on this tradition and inspiring further innovation in the years to come.
