Galala University Students Represent Egypt at the African Laser Centre Workshop

From November 17-22, 2024, two Biotechnology students from Galala University made their mark on the international stage by participating in the 15th African Laser Centre (ALC) Workshop at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) in Stellenbosch, South Africa. This renowned event brought together some of Africa’s brightest minds in photonics and biophotonics, fostering collaboration and innovation across the continent.

Over six enriching days, the students were introduced to groundbreaking topics, such as non-invasive embryo assessment using digital holographic microscopy, the transformative potential of photobiomodulation for diabetic wound healing, and the innovative use of light topologies. These sessions provided invaluable insights and sparked conversations on advancements in healthcare and biotechnology.

Highlighting the trip was Mohamed Elsadek’s recognition with the Merit Prize for Best Poster Presentation, a significant achievement that underscored the caliber of Galala University’s Molecular Biotechnology Program. Alongside his peer, Rawan, Mohamed actively engaged with experts, building meaningful connections and leaving a lasting impression as knowledgeable and enthusiastic representatives of Egypt.

The experience extended beyond academics, as the students explored South Africa’s rich culture and stunning landscapes, making the journey an unforgettable blend of learning and cultural immersion.

This opportunity reflects Galala University’s unwavering commitment to fostering international exposure, driving scientific excellence, and preparing students to make a global impact.
