Galala University took a major step forward in the fight against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) with the highly successful GU AMR Walkathon held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Organized by the Microbiology Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy and in collaboration with the Office of Student Life and GU Sports Club, the event attracted over 552 participants.
The walkathon was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Elshinawi, President of Galala University, and hosted by renowned TV presenter Farah Ali. The event combined fun, sports, and education to advocate for action against AMR while promoting healthy lifestyles.
Participants included students from across Galala University’s faculties, faculty members, and staff. The event also featured collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University, with students—including international participants from Nigeria, Iraq, Sudan, and South Sudan—joining the initiative.
This vibrant event showcased the impact of student-led initiatives in addressing global health challenges. It was more than a walkathon—it was a platform for education, advocacy, and fostering collaboration among students from diverse backgrounds.
