On December 17, 2024, Galala University’s Faculty of Media Production participated in the inaugural “Fake News and Fact-Checking” conference, hosted at the European Universities Campus in Egypt. The event was organized in collaboration with the University of East London in Cairo and the Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Representing Galala University were Dr. Amira Samir, Program Director of Media Production, Dr. Walaa Khozam, and a group of talented students from the program. Their participation highlighted GU’s commitment to tackling pressing challenges in the media landscape, including misinformation and the growing need for robust fact-checking practices.
The conference served as a dynamic platform for media professionals, educators, and students to explore the significance of fact-checking in journalism and discuss strategies to combat the spread of fake news.
