Galala University marked its commitment to combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) with a series of impactful events held in alignment with World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.
The highlight of these efforts was the GU AMR Scientific Day, which took place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, bringing together experts, students, and global health leaders for insightful discussions and knowledge sharing. Distinguished speakers included representatives from the Egyptian Drug Authority, Egypt Health Authority, and the World Health Organization (WHO). Esteemed guests of honor, Prof. Dr. Ehab Hassanein, Vice President of Galala University, and Dr. Sherif Kamal, Chairman Consultant for Medication Management and Pharmacy Affairs at the Egypt Health Authority, also attended the event.
A key moment of the day was the inspiring presentation by Faculty of Pharmacy students from Cairo University, highlighting their AMR initiatives in collaboration with the WHO. Galala University students also showcased their innovative approaches to addressing AMR, reflecting the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and social responsibility.
The event featured a talk by Dr. Mennatalla Zohny, Youth Engagement Consultant for the WHO AMR/IPC Unit, who encouraged students to connect with the global AMR community and actively contribute to international efforts.
Through these events, Galala University reinforced its role in empowering students, building international collaborations, and making meaningful contributions to the global fight against AMR.
