Galala University Hosts the First International Conference on Smart, Digital, and Green Technologies

 

Galala University hosted the inaugural International Conference on Smart, Digital, and Green Technologies (SDG-AI 2024) from December 9 to 11, 2024. Held in collaboration with the Third International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Sciences and Applications, the event was under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 

Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, extended a warm welcome to guests from Egypt and around the globe. He expressed his aspirations for the conference to drive meaningful advancements in future technologies while fostering collaboration between academia and industry on both regional and international fronts.

 

Highlighting the event’s objectives, Prof. Dr. Ehab Hassanein, Vice President of Galala University for Academic Affairs, noted that the conference focused on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, digital twins, and 3D printing. These technologies were explored in the context of vital fields, including healthcare, energy, environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship, and manufacturing.

 

Dr. Hossam Othman, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, praised the high level of organization and the enthusiasm of students attending the conference. He emphasized the importance of aligning with Industry 5.0, which prioritizes sustainability and efficiency while addressing societal needs to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

In his keynote speech, Professor Hani Mustafa, Executive Director of the Sustainable Innovation Network at the University of Quebec in Canada, highlighted that over 40 research papers were accepted from 10 countries, including Canada, Egypt, France, Morocco, and Tunisia. The event featured five scientific sessions and three panel discussions with global experts from academia and industry.

 

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Sciences Program at Galala University, shared key conference themes, which included:

 

  • The application of artificial intelligence in medical diagnosis and healthcare improvement.
  • Sustainable solutions and energy management using smart technologies.
  • Digital transformation strategies to enhance operational efficiency in diverse industries.

The SDG-AI 2024 conference marked a significant milestone in advancing innovative technologies to create a more sustainable, efficient, and connected future.
