Galala University Implements Initiatives Under the Presidential Initiative “A New Beginning for Human Building”

Under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Galala University has successfully executed a series of impactful activities and initiatives over a 100-day period. These efforts align with the goals of the presidential initiative, “A New Beginning for Human Building,” which seeks to enhance quality of life and foster environmental, social, and cultural sustainability while developing individual skills and raising community awareness.

Environmental and Sustainability Efforts:

Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, highlighted that the initiatives were carried out across several key axes. In the environmental and sustainability domain, the university planted 300 trees on campus in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment. This effort was complemented by additional tree-planting campaigns involving students and faculty members. Recycling projects were also introduced, including converting marble waste into environmentally friendly building materials.

Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Modern Technologies:

The university has embraced artificial intelligence to enhance sustainability and reduce chemical usage in laboratories through the Prexilab platform. Educational programs have also integrated advanced digital platforms and AI-based tools to deliver innovative content. Workshops, such as one held in collaboration with the Francophone University Agency, provided faculty members with training in advanced teaching technologies.

Galala University’s commitment to research and innovation was demonstrated through 306 scientific papers published in 2024. Notable projects include the “Green Shield” initiative, which developed an AI-powered robot for sustainable agriculture, and the “Sugar Heal” project, which transforms sugarcane waste into environmentally friendly medical bandages. Additionally, specialized workshops, such as “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Drug Design,” brought together experts and students from the Faculties of Pharmacy and Computer Science to explore cutting-edge applications of AI in health sciences.

Health and Sports Initiatives:

The university organized numerous health campaigns to benefit students, staff, and the surrounding community. These included free medical services, awareness drives on personal hygiene and public health, and blood donation campaigns. Health and fitness workshops, as well as sports tournaments, encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyles and remain physically active.

Cultural and Leadership Development:

As part of its cultural and leadership development initiatives, Galala University organized field visits to Siwa Oasis. These visits allowed students to address local environmental challenges and propose sustainable development solutions rooted in cultural heritage. Leadership programs, held in partnership with international organizations such as AIESEC, trained students in planning, organizing, and teamwork.

Recognizing Achievements:

Galala University concluded its 100-day program with a celebratory event recognizing the efforts of faculty members and students. The ceremony showcased significant accomplishments, including enhanced environmental awareness, innovative health and educational services, and award-winning scientific projects, such as those recognized at the Startup Olympics.

Through these initiatives, Galala University reaffirms its dedication to fostering sustainability, innovation, and holistic development, contributing meaningfully to the goals of “A New Beginning for Human Building.”
