Galala University Joins the Global Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Galala University has taken a proactive step in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by participating in the “Future Fighters Against AMR” program, organized by the Egyptian Drug Authority in collaboration with the World Health Organization.

The program, launched on December 5, 2024, aims to prepare pharmacy students to become advocates for responsible antibiotic use and raise awareness about antimicrobial and pathogen resistance. This initiative equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to address one of the most pressing global health challenges.

Representing Galala University at the launch event were Prof. Dr. Amira Abdel Motaal, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Associate Prof. Dr. Mariam Hassan Haikal, academic supervisor of the program. Two outstanding third-year pharmacy students from Galala University were also selected as program ambassadors under Dr. Haikal’s mentorship.

Through this initiative, Galala University underscores its dedication to tackling global health issues and empowering future healthcare professionals. This commitment aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.”

By fostering awareness and responsibility in the use of antimicrobials, Galala University continues to contribute to building a healthier and more sustainable future.
