Interprofessional Education Workshop: Application of AI in Drug Design

Galala University continues to lead the way in interdisciplinary education and research, driving innovation at the intersection of science and technology. On Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted an insightful Interprofessional Education Workshop focused on the Application of AI in Drug Design—a day where pharmacy and computer science experts spoke a common language.

The event brought together faculty members, students, and experts from both the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Computer Science to explore the integration of artificial intelligence into drug design and development.

Associate Professor Dr. Khaled Darwish, from the Medicinal Chemistry Department, provided an in-depth overview of modern drug design strategies, emphasizing the challenges and opportunities in the pharmaceutical field. Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Mohamed Abd Elaziz, Program Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program, discussed cutting-edge AI technologies, showcasing their applications in drug discovery, molecular modeling, and target identification.

Adding to the dynamic exchange of ideas, students from the Faculty of Computer Science presented innovative AI-based solutions aimed at optimizing drug development processes.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from both faculty members and students, sparking meaningful discussions and inspiring future collaborations across disciplines. It highlighted Galala University’s commitment to advancing science and technology through collaborative education and research.
