PT, PTT, Fibrinogen

PT and PTT blood tests measure the ability of the blood to form a clot and stop bleeding. The PT detects abnormalities in the extrinsic and common pathways of the coagulation cascade. The PTT detects abnormalities in the intrinsic pathway of coagulation. A fibrinogen test measures your levels of a blood protein called fibrinogen. Fibrinogen is made in your liver and helps your blood clot. Low fibrinogen may make it difficult for your blood to clot.
