In an effort to raise awareness about post-marketing drug safety monitoring, the Faculty of Nursing at Galala University, in collaboration with the Egyptian Drug Authority, organized an informative seminar on the basics of pharmacovigilance and methods of reporting adverse effects. This event, titled “Introducing the Basics of Pharmacovigilance and Methods of Reporting Adverse Effects,” took place as part of the annual Drug Safety Week, known as #MedSafetyWeek.
The seminar featured an insightful lecture by Dr. Yara Raslan, a pharmacovigilance specialist at the Egyptian Pharmacovigilance Center (EPVC) under the Egyptian Drug Authority. Dr. Raslan discussed the fundamentals of pharmacovigilance and the significance of reporting adverse effects to maintain drug safety.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Gehan El Ghonemy, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, and attended by Prof. Dr. Rania Farag, Program Director, along with faculty members, assistants, and administrators. Students from various faculties at Galala University actively participated in the seminar, showing strong interest in the role of pharmacovigilance and its importance for ensuring the safety of medicines for Egyptian patients.
