As part of its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, Galala University held its annual Sustainability Week, featuring impactful activities and symposiums organized by various faculties to highlight the importance of environmental care and climate action in the Arab region.
The Faculty of Administrative Sciences hosted a symposium titled “Environment and Climate Change in the Arab Region: Impacts and Policies.” This event was led by Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, Director of the Environmental Affairs Department and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs at the League of Arab States. Dr. Fathallah addressed critical issues surrounding environmental challenges in the Arab region, the role of the League of Arab States in advocating for climate policies, and the measures necessary to tackle climate change.
On the other hand, the Faculty of Nursing organized Environmental Week activities, which included lectures delivered by a delegation from the Ministry of Environment. These lectures provided valuable insights into current environmental challenges and strategies for sustainable development, helping to equip students with knowledge on environmental issues.
As a symbol of the university’s dedication to green initiatives, Galala University received 300 olive and lemon trees. Faculty members, students, and staff joined together to plant these trees across the university grounds, contributing to a more sustainable campus while fostering a spirit of collaboration and environmental responsibility.
Galala University extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Environmental Affairs for their continued partnership and support in fostering sustainable practices and raising environmental awareness among students. Through initiatives like Sustainability Week, the university aims to inspire future leaders to advocate for sustainability and contribute to a greener, more resilient Arab region.
