Nanoscience and Technology Program

Molecular Biotechnology Program

Molecular biotechnology is the use of laboratory techniques to study and modify nucleic acids and proteins for applications in various areas such as: human and animal health, agriculture, and environment. 

The science of molecular biotechnology arises from the convergence of several areas of research, such as molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, genetics and cell biology. The program is concerned with using laboratory techniques to study and modify nucleic acids and proteins, and their applications in areas such as human and animal health, agriculture and the environment. It is predicted that every aspect of our lives will be affected in the coming decades by this dynamic field.

While technology generally aims to create tools for human empowerment, biotechnology aims to change the human beings themselves, to better fit the world. 

Graduates can work in research centers, pharmaceutical and vaccines companies and in the fields of agriculture development and water purification.


Petroleum and Mining Geology Program

The program provides a solid foundation in geosciences, and due to GU’s strategic location, it offers special opportunities in field trainings. 

Students studying this program will learn basic concepts and techniques through research, in an environment that encourages the development of professionals with social, cultural and human sensitivity as well as deep ethical values.

Regardless of whether the ground has reached peak oil or not, it is still a competitive market in this area. About 150 years since we began using fossil fuels in large quantities, the petrochemical industry needs to be more efficient in locating and handling fossil fuels. This is the role of this program’s graduates; petroleum geologists.
